Line D – Stop 4: Dammtor / University & Planten un Blomen

Across the street is Dammtor Station, one of Hamburg’s most distinctive train stations, with direct connections to long-distance and regional rail services as well as the S-Bahn. Right next to it is the University of Hamburg campus and the lively university district on Grindel. Behind it lies Planten un Blomen Park, with its expansive green spaces, lakes, and themed gardens.

To immerse yourself in the green heart of the city, the Dammtor stop is the perfect place to take a break from your city tour on Line D. The famous water and light shows take place from May 1 through September 30 in the park by Parksee (near the Dammtor train station) (daily at 10:00 p.m. from May through August). Admission is free. The colorful evening concerts with music begin daily at 10:00 p.m. from May through August and at 9:00 p.m. in September. Please do not search online for Planten un Blomen tickets -admission is completely free!
