A one-day ticket for adults costs 21 €. Your ticket is valid all day—so you can hop on and off as often as you like and enjoy the city tour at your own pace.
Discounted tickets cost €18 and are valid for:
- Retirees
- Schoolchildren and college students
- Holders of a tourism or visitor card
- Groups of 10 or more people (depending on the rate)
Children ride at a special discount:
- Children 7 years old and younger ride for free.
- Children ages 8 through 14 pay €12.
Family Ticket:
- For €44, one or two adults and their own children can ride all day at any stop along the booked route.
Groups:
- School classes and groups of children with 10 or more people pay €12 per child. This price also applies to up to two accompanying adults.
- Groups of adults of 10 or more people pay €18 per person.
Transfer between Lines D and B:
Would you like to experience both city tour routes? For an additional fee of €6 per adult, you can switch from Route D to Route B or from Route B to Route D, allowing you to combine both tours in one day.
Good to know: With your ticket, you can get on and off as often as you like throughout the day. This lets you explore Hamburg flexibly and at your own pace.
You can easily purchase your tickets for the City Tour Lines B and D online through our website. Tickets are also available at select ticket outlets, such as some hotels.

If you’d like to take both city tours on the same day, you can also purchase a transfer ticket right on the bus. This makes it easy to switch from one route to the other and discover even more of Hamburg.
The Top Tour departs every 30 minutes daily. The first departure is at 9:30 a.m., and the last is at 5:00 p.m.
In addition, there are departures from the Landungsbrücken:
- 9:55 a.m., then every 2 hours until 3:55 p.m. (in even-numbered months).
- 10:55 a.m., then every 2 hours until 4:55 p.m. (in odd-numbered months).
You can start your city tour either at Hamburg Central Station (Kirchenallee, Platform 5) or at Landungsbrücken 1–2 (Platform 4 or 5—depending on the schedule).

Our City Tour routes B and D generally operate daily. However, on days when major events or demonstrations are taking place in Hamburg, road closures and traffic restrictions may result in delays, detours, or, in some cases, service cancellations.
The following restrictions are currently known for 2026:
- July 11 and 12, 2026: Hamburg Triathlon—no city tours
- August 1, 2026 (Christopher Street Day): City tours in the morning
- August 16, 2026: Cyclassics—no city tours
- September 6, 2026: Alster Run – Route and transit stops along the Alster will be restricted in the morning
If you purchased your ticket online, simply show the QR code when boarding. Our team will exchange it for a boarding pass or day pass.
Please keep this ticket in a safe place. It serves as proof of transfers between our lines and also as proof of payment.
We recommend that you keep your boarding pass even after your city tour is over. If you realize later that you’ve left something on the bus, we can quickly identify your trip using the ticket number and travel time and better assist you in finding your lost item.
Yes, you can easily purchase your ticket right on board any of our dark blue city tour buses. You can pay in cash or with an EC/Girocard – we’d appreciate it if you paid by card.
With a ticket for Line B or D, you can also transfer to the other city tour for just €6. You can easily get the transfer ticket directly from our team on the next bus. This way, you can explore another route on the same day and experience even more of Hamburg.

Disposable headphones are available for free on the bus. You’re also welcome to bring your own headphones with a 3.5-mm jack.

Our buses generally operate on a fixed schedule, which is usually adhered to reliably. However, traffic conditions can occasionally cause delays – for example, due to construction zones, accidents, heavy traffic, or last-minute road closures. Events, demonstrations, or parades in the city can also affect the route.

All of our city tours are part of a unified fare system. This means that with your €6 ticket (adults), you can easily switch to another Hamburg City Tours route and continue exploring the city.
Transporting wheelchairs and strollers
- Access to the bus: Wheelchairs and strollers can easily board through the rear door. Our drivers will be happy to assist you with a portable ramp.
- Seating: We have a designated space reserved for a wheelchair or stroller in the lower section of the bus.
- Note regarding the upper deck: Please understand that the upper deck of our dark blue double-decker buses is accessible only by stairs and is therefore unfortunately not accessible to guests with limited mobility.
Ticket Policies for Passengers with Severe Disabilities
- Free Ride: Guests with an orange disability ID card may ride on our tour for free. To qualify, they must present a supplementary form from the Social Security Office with a valid stamp and one of the following designations: G (significantly mobility-impaired), H (helpless), Gl (deaf), or Bl (blind).
- Accompanying Persons: As soon as the “B” designation is entered on your ID card, an accompanying person may ride with you for free. This rule applies to the accompanying person even if you yourself do not have a valid token..
No, our tickets are not personalized and are generally transferable. So it’s no problem if a different name appears on the online ticket. You can also easily pass the ticket on to someone else or give it as a gift.
Simply show your online ticket (on your smartphone or as a printout) to our staff at the bus. They will scan the QR code, and you’ll receive your ticket for the corresponding route.
Please note: The ticket issued (board pass/day pass) should be kept in a safe place, as it serves as proof of payment and cannot be replaced if lost.
Important: The ticket is transferable only before the tour begins. Once the city tour has started and the service has been used, the ticket is tied to that specific use and can no longer be transferred to another person.
Yes, dogs are generally welcome on our city tours – as long as they are well-socialized and get along well with others.
While on the tour, please make sure that both people and animals are comfortable and that you are considerate of other passengers. That way, nothing will stand in the way of a relaxing city tour of Hamburg.
Yes, you are generally allowed to bring luggage. Larger pieces of luggage can usually be stowed on the lower deck of double-decker buses. Please make sure your luggage is stable and secured against tipping over during the ride so that it does not obstruct or endanger anyone.
Please note that there is no guarantee of a designated luggage space. Whether luggage can be brought on board depends on the bus’s occupancy at the time.

We offer various discounts on our city tours:
- Seniors (age 65 and older), schoolchildren, and college students: Reduced fare of 18 €
- Children: Children 7 years old and younger ride for free when accompanied by their parents
- Groups of children: Groups of children up to age 14, including 2 accompanying adults, pay a total of 12 €.
- School groups: Organized school groups are charged a fee of 18 €.
